Lincoln County High School

A couple weeks ago I participated in a Craft Fair at Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee hosted by The Elk Valley Crafters Assoc. This was my second year at this fair. It has been going on for years, is well planned and well attended.

It’s fun to do the same fairs every year because you run into vendors and shoppers you may not see anywhere else. It’s always fun to hear someone say ‘my sister bought a journal from you last year and she loves it’.

Last year before the fair I made myself an apron out of a pair of my hubby’s old jeans to use for my change. The ladies at the booth next to me loved the idea and this year they were sporting aprons of their own. They were very happy to find me and show off their version of my apron idea. They also sent me some pictures which you will find below.

It was a fun weekend and I look forward to doing it again next November.

Funky & Fabulous

.

Today I ventured to the not-so-big town of Killen, Alabama. I went to meet Sherry Snoddy and see her wonderful little shop

 Funky Fairy

Sherry will be selling my journals so I took  a supply made specially with Funky Fairy in mind.

It is the cutest little place and I can only imagine how pretty the herb garden that surrounds it looks in the spring and summer. Even with most plant life dormant and brown the herb garden still makes you smile because of all the fabulous colors Sherry has used in the hardscapes and yard art.

The shop has an amazing assortment of herbs, spices, and tea. I bought some Vampire Tea which you can read about on her Facebook page. I also picked up some elderberry syrup to get the hubby and I through the flu and cold season.

Funk Fairy also carries antiques and fun hand made items.

.

I am sorry that Funky Fairy is 70 miles away and that I won’t be able to visit more often. I will make a point of heading that way come spring…….partly to take another supply of journals, but mostly because I don’t want to miss that place in bloom!

It was great meeting you and your fabulous staff today Sherry!

Baggage, Bistros & Blueberry Jam

On Saturday we found out we were having company on Sunday. After removing my craft fair items from the spare bed and putting fresh towels in the spare bathroom we were ready.

I have a craft fair this weekend and really needed to get some journals done. Nancy wanted to know what she could do to help so she went thrift store shopping with me and then helped me prep the T-shirts we found by cutting all the sleeves off  for me. Huge help!

We had to work during our friends visit but were able to take yesterday off. We drove through Scottsboro and stopped at the Unclaimed Baggage Center. I have wanted to go there for years, even before we moved to Alabama. It was as good as expected and everybody found something to buy. There are a few pictures below to give you an idea of what it looked like inside.

If you are not familiar with the store it is where all the lost and unclaimed baggage from airports all over the United States is sent. It’s like a big thrift store but with better stuff. You can check it out at the link below.

We also visited a cute little town in north east Alabama called Mentone. Sadly it is a weekend oriented town and none of the shops were open, but we did find a great Bistro for lunch.

On the trip back to the house we stopped at one of our favorite junk stores and found a few more treasures…..good thing we were in the big truck!

And if you’re are wondering where the blueberry jam comes in……….my homemade jam was a big hit on toast in the mornings 🙂
